Virtual machines
with root access_

A Linux or FreeBSD machine that’s yours: root, a public IPv4, your SSH keys installed before first boot, and a browser console for when SSH isn’t enough. Billed by the second, never more than the monthly price.

Create a machine

A machine that runs all month costs its monthly price and never more. Stopped machines still accrue: delete one to stop its charges. New accounts get £8 of credit: a month of Fresh 4.

From nothing to SSH_

  1. 01
Pick an image and a plan

Hostname, operating system, plan. Every image shows the user it signs in as; every plan shows its price before you choose.

  2. 02
    Tick a key

Your SSH public key is installed before the machine first boots. Password login is never enabled.

  3. 03
    Review, then create

Everything you chose on one page. Billing starts when the machine is built.

  4. 04
    Connect

The Overview tab has the SSH command with a copy button, the public IPv4, and a browser console for the day you lock yourself out.

Questions people ask_

Can I bring my own ISO?
Yes. Choose “Bring your own ISO” as the operating system, give an HTTPS link to the image (up to 16 GiB), and install through the browser console. Access is then whatever your installer sets up.
Is the IPv4 really included?
Yes: one public IPv4 per machine, with no surcharge. The private network between your machines and databases is free too.
What happens when I stop a machine?
It keeps its resources, so it keeps accruing. Delete it to stop charges; deletion removes its data, so take a copy first.
Do you do backups?
Not for machines yet, and there are no snapshots. Keep your own copies of anything you can’t lose, outside the machine.
Can I resize later?
Not in place: a machine keeps the plan it was created with. Create the bigger one alongside and move over; the private network makes that easier.
