Managed Gitea_
Your team’s code on a Git server of its own
Gitea is a lightweight self-hosted Git service: repositories, pull requests, issues, wikis, releases and package registries for your team, in one fast application.
From £5 a month, VAT included. No server to run.
- HTTPS and your own domain
- Health checks and restarts
- Security updates underneath
- Private repositories
- Code review
- Issue tracking
- Package registries
First steps
- Sign in. When the app is live, open it in the console and choose Reveal admin password; it is shown once, so save it in your password manager. Then sign in at your-name.apps.fresh.dev/user/login. Username admin
- Bring code across with New Migration: Gitea copies a repository from GitHub or GitLab, with its issues, pull requests and releases if you give it a token.
- Create accounts for your team yourself: open sign-up is turned off.
- Create a personal access token under Settings › Applications if your account uses two-factor sign-in.
- Add SMTP details in the console so review requests and mentions reach people.
Push an existing project
Create an empty repository in Gitea, then point your local copy at it:
git remote add origin https://your-name.apps.fresh.dev/your-team/website.git
git push -u origin main
Git asks for your Gitea username and password, or an access token. Large files work with Git LFS.
Good to know
- Git works over HTTPS only; Git over SSH isn’t available.
- Gitea Actions are turned off, because they need a separate runner.
The Gitea project
Gitea is open-source software, licensed under MIT. Fresh runs version 28.1.0 of the upstream release for you. Fresh is not affiliated with the Gitea project; for questions about the software itself, its documentation and community are the best place to start.
