Managed Node-RED_
Wire up APIs and devices by drawing a flow
Node-RED is a low-code tool for wiring together APIs, devices and online services. You build flows in the browser by connecting nodes, and they run straight away.
From £5 a month, VAT included. No server to run.
- HTTPS and your own domain
- Health checks and restarts
- Security updates underneath
- Webhooks between services
- Home and IoT automation
- Scheduled jobs
- Quick internal APIs
First steps
- Sign in. When the app is live, open it in the console and choose Reveal admin password; it is shown once, so save it in your password manager. Then sign in at your-name.apps.fresh.dev/. Username admin
- Sign in to the editor, drag an inject node and a debug node onto the canvas, wire them and press Deploy.
- Build a small API: an http in node, a function node and an http response node (below).
- Keep secrets such as API keys in node credentials rather than in function code.
Call an HTTP endpoint
An http in node set to POST /hello, wired to an http response node, answers at your app’s address:
curl -X POST https://your-name.apps.fresh.dev/hello \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"name": "Ada"}'
HTTP in endpoints are public: check a token in your flow if they shouldn’t be.
Good to know
- Extra nodes can’t be installed from the palette.
