First steps
- Sign in. When the app is live, open it in the console and choose Reveal admin password; it is shown once, so save it in your password manager. Then sign in at your-name.apps.fresh.dev/. The Matrix ID shown in the console (@admin on your app’s address)
- Install a Matrix client such as Element on your computer or phone.
- Sign in with your app’s address as the homeserver (below).
- Create rooms and invite people, including people on other Matrix servers.
- Add SMTP details in the console for notifications.
Sign in from Element
Choose Edit next to the homeserver on Element’s sign-in screen and enter:
Homeserver: https://your-name.apps.fresh.dev
Username: @admin:your-name.apps.fresh.dev
Good to know
- Synapse has no web interface of its own; you use a Matrix client.
- Your server name is fixed to the app’s first address. A custom domain added later is only an alias, and making it primary can confuse other servers.
